Program offers nationwide framework for alternative education

The National Alternative Education Association has adopted a program used in Tennessee as the country's first nationwide framework for alternative education programs -- serving primarily struggling students, who have been expelled, suspended or dropped out of school. The guidelines call for a student-teacher ratio of 12:1 and enhanced assistance to foster students' interests in careers.
