Deteriorating bridges in Ohio need repair to prevent collapses

A total of 133 bridges on Ohio roads are "fracture-critical," including the Route 16 bridge above the CSX tracks in Licking County, according to the state transportation department. State law requires bridge inspections to occur every year, twice as often as federal rules require. "We know we have to keep an eye on them, and we get up close and personal," said Tim Keller, state DOT Office of Structural Engineering administrator.
