Hitachi touts new high-endurance 25-nanometer SSDs

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies has introduced what it says are the first commercially available single-level cell, solid-state drives based on 25-nanometer technology, including a 400-gigabyte model that can handle the equivalent of 19.2 terabytes of rotating data every day for five years. The Ultrastar SSD400S.B enterprise SSDs -- which also come in 100-gigabyte and 200-gigabyte versions -- were developed with Intel, whose "endurance firmware" and power management technology helps extend the life of the drives.
