Teen-centered weight-loss program shows efficacy in obese girls

A study in Pediatrics found that overweight or obese teen girls who underwent a moderately intensive behavioral program -- which offered separate sessions for their parents -- attained slightly lower BMIs, compared with those who received usual weight-loss advice. However, teens in the behavior-modification program reported having a better body image and healthier eating habits, suggesting a teen-centered weight-loss approach may yield positive results.
