Snow buildup weakens roofs across New England, N.Y.

The buildup of snow from a weekend blizzard has caused some roofs to give way in parts of Connecticut and in New York, while rain following the historic blizzard on Cape Cod threatened more roofs. More than a dozen roofs collapsed in Connecticut, prompting Gov. Dannel Malloy to recommend getting snow off flat roofs. In New York, the Smith Haven Mall was evacuated after leaks were seen and a potential collapse was feared.
