Event helps open girls' eyes to jobs in engineering

Aviation electronics solutions company Rockwell Collins holds an annual "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day" event that includes a tour of its Cedar Rapids, Iowa, campus, talks by female engineers and hands-on activities. About 100 eighth-grade girls from local schools generally attend the event. "We all need to make sure the young girls in our lives are encouraged and exposed to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers on a much more regular basis," said Adriana D'Onofrio, senior community relations specialist at Rockwell Collins.
