Experts: U.S. economy is hurt by severe snowstorms

Recent winter storms in the U.S. could stifle the country's growth in the first quarter, according to economists. Diane Swonk of Mesirow Financial predicts Q1 growth "well below" a 2% annual rate, a significant decrease from the 3.2% posted in last year's Q4. Adverse weather conditions are likely to place a "noticeable dent" in the country's economic expansion, says Ryan Sweet of Moody's Analytics.
