Nurses and hospitals stressing the need to beat burnout


How can hospitals help nurses win the battle against burnout? Offering social support, good patient-staff ratios and shift limits can benefit nurses, increase patient safety and reduce staff turnover. To fight nurse exhaustion and burnout, the Michigan Nurses Association is supporting a legislative push to require minimum nurse staffing in hospitals and prevent nurses from working 15-to-18 hour shifts.
