Proposed legislation may improve retirement planning

Legislation pending in Washington may help workers better prepare for retirement. H.R. 2035 by Rep. Richard Neal, D-Mass., would set up a program for automatic IRA enrollment for small-business employees, a move also championed by President Barack Obama. Meanwhile, the bipartisan Lifetime Income Disclosure Act would require employer-sponsored retirement plans to issue annual statements to help retirees understand projected investment returns on their contributions.
