The U.S. and about two dozen other countries introduced a global initiative on Thursday addressing the emerging threat posed by infectious diseases. The Global Health Security Agenda aims to help countries that are not ready to detect or contain disease outbreaks. "We have the ability to make both the United States and the world substantially safer from infectious threats," said Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
