Watch list helps hospitals evaluate new technology

The ECRI Institute's 2014 watch list of new technologies aims to help hospitals balance safety, need and cost against vendor hype. Making the list are a computer-assisted sedation system for endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, a catheter-based renal denervation system for hypertension, the use of copper surfaces in ICU units and other areas to reduce hospital-acquired infections, the NanoKnife system and intelligent sensor pills.
