Oregon quick to prescribe drugs, slow to assess foster children

Fewer than one in three Oregon children in foster care were able to obtain mental-health assessments within the time frame set out in state law, officials said. While 4,700 children in foster care were prescribed antidepressants, stimulants or other psychiatric drugs, the state employed only one nurse to review their cases.
