Louisiana parish seeks federal help for levee upgrade

Officials in Louisiana's Rapides Parish have asked for assistance from three federal lawmakers to upgrade the region's levees after the Federal Emergency Management Agency de-accredited the structures for failing to meet government standards. The de-accreditation could make flood insurance costly for homeowners and businesses in the affected areas, officials said.
