Officials study tunnel to ship Sacramento water to SoCal

In the search for a way to ship Sacramento River water to Southern California residents, officials have chosen a 43-mile-long tunnel project, rather than a canal, for further study. The Bay Delta Conservation Plan, as the project is known, aims to secure the state's supply of drinking water. The project could cost nearly $12 billion.
