Child-marriage alliance sets sights on South Asia

Nobel laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who is spearheading the Girls Not Brides alliance, last week helped launch in New Delhi a regional initiative backed by dozens of South Asian charities to persuade governments and community leaders across Asia to help reduce high rates of child marriage. "Women represent 50% of humanity and countries are holding themselves back in terms of their economic development by discriminating against girls and women," he said.
