Concrete failure closes 100-year-old tunnel in Calif.

The Dornan Drive Tunnel in Richmond, Calif., is 100 years old. Crews were at work on improvements to the tunnel when they discovered a "large attic-like void measuring about 12 by 10 feet between the tunnel's interior concrete lining and the ceiling," and also found that some of the lining was now only four inches thick. The city's engineering department has closed the tunnel.
