Discovery's Q4 profit takes hit from taxes, stock compensation

Discovery Communications in Q4 saw its net income drop by one-third to $224 million because of increases in taxes and stock-based compensation for employees. Operating income was up 14% to $481 million. Discovery's U.S. TV networks tallied a 4% rise in revenue to $703 million, with growth coming from higher ad rates and subscription fees.
