GAO report notes $2B increase in cost of S.C. MOX project

Costs associated with the National Nuclear Security Administration's mixed-oxide fuel project at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina have increased by $2 billion, according to a Government Accountability Office report. The project, which seeks to convert weapons-grade plutonium into commercial reactor fuel, is now expected to cost nearly $7 billion.
