How "vectoring" is fueling a copper-wire revival

European telecoms are turning to copper in response to growing competition from companies such as Liberty Global, which is investing heavily in cable assets to lure subscribers. Dozens of telecoms are testing a copper-wire-based solution called "vectoring" that turns the old-line technology into a speedy conduit for HD content and music without the need to spend billions on fiber-optic lines.
