Sandy is surpassed only by Katrina in damage cost, report says

Damage from Hurricane Sandy is estimated at $50 billion, the second highest amount on record for a hurricane that hit the U.S., the National Hurricane Center says. The hurricane also was the deadliest to have hit the Northeast in four decades, being blamed in 72 deaths, the center said.
