IAEA reports steady interest in nuclear energy, rise in industry newcomers

The 2011 Fukushima Daiichi disaster in Japan caused a slowdown in the nuclear industry's growth, but several countries are showing signs of interest in engaging in nuclear development, said Anne Starz, technical head for infrastructure and planning at the International Atomic Energy Agency. "I think that there is probably another four countries that could have their first reactors under construction in the next five years. This indicates something but it is hard to see whether it is a trend yet," she said.
