Gates Foundation To Invest In High-Tech Schools

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation yesterday said it plans to spend $5 million over the next few years to fund small, high-tech high schools in Washington. State law does not permit charter schools, but the foundation says it still plans to demand authority over staffing, budgeting and decision-making.
