Smaller brands bring smaller margins for flat panels' bigger names

Smaller brands have offered rugged competition for big-name TV brands, including Panasonic, Sony and Philips, and the undercutting of prices has continued to cause price drops in the flat-panel market. More than 100 television brands fill the shelves of retailers such as Costco and Best Buy, and the intense competition has led to thin margins in the industry.
