Electric companies aware of environmental realities, spokesman says

The electric-utility industry is focused on issues of climate change even as it seeks to meet escalating power needs, according to Tom Kuhn, president of the Edison Electric Institute. Greater demand calls for expansion of the electrical-transmission infrastructure, but power companies must be sensitive to the environment, Kuhn said. He cited plug-in hybrid vehicles and carbon-capture technology as two positive trends in reducing greenhouse gases.
