Four top media chains launch network for local Web ads

Gannett Co., Hearst Corp., The New York Times Co. and Tribune Co. are coming together to form an online ad network that would enable major marketers to place ads on the Web sites of the media chains' local newspapers and TV affiliates. The alliance -- dubbed quadrantONE -- does not include outlets considered more national in scope, such as USA TODAY, owned by Gannett, and The New York Times and The International Herald Tribune, both properties of The New York Times Co.
