Cleveland project aims to show the benefits of buying locally

Small-business groups are lobbying governments, universities, hospitals and other major purchasers to buy local -- a commitment made by some of the city of Cleveland's largest organizations. Most of the $3 billion spent annually for goods and services by the Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals leaves their immediate area, but advocates hope a new spend-local plan will help low-income neighborhoods and small businesses around Greater University Circle prosper.
