Family changes are needed to address obesity in children

Pediatricians increasingly are urging parents to have their children's body mass index measured, practice good nutrition and encourage family exercise as a way to prevent excess weight gain. "The family is the underutilized weapon in the fight against childhood obesity," says Dr. David Ludwig, director of the obesity program at Children's Hospital Boston.
