Maryland blood bank looks to meet transfusion needs in pets

Pets suffer from diseases and injuries that sometimes require blood transfusion, a growing demand that the Eastern Veterinary Blood Bank in Severna Park, Md., seeks to address. EVBB collects blood donations from healthy dogs, ideally from breeds that have universal blood types, which comprise roughly 40% of dogs in the U.S., according to AVMA.
