New Orleans housing projects mimic 19th century design

The planning of public housing in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina has changed dramatically from earlier concepts. New, mixed-income complexes built atop neighborhoods flattened by the storm are designed for residents getting public aid and for renters paying market prices. Developers have aimed to mimic 19th century New Orleans architecture, with spotty success.
