Bayer leases W.Va. land for drilling, still considering ethane cracker

Bayer has signed a $30 million deal to allow Gastar Exploration to drill for natural gas on its land. Bayer is considering an ethane cracker at its site in New Martinsville, W.Va. Bayer "could still put a cracker there. With horizontal drilling, we can extract the minerals with no disruption to the cracker on the surface," said Michael McCown of Gastar. "We are working with Bayer as much as we can on our end to get the cracker here."
