Samsung holds more than half of mobile DRAM market, figures show

In the fourth quarter of 2011, Samsung Electronics improved its share of the mobile DRAM market to almost 54%, DRAMeXchange reports. Hynix Semiconductor's share slipped to nearly 21% in the quarter, while Elpida Memory held 17%. The market research firm noted Samsung is also a leading producer of NAND flash memory devices, giving it the capability to supply multichip packages for applications in mobile devices.
