Ore. bill aims to restore loan program for rural providers

Oregon state Sen. Elizabeth Steiner Hayward, D-Beaverton, proposed a bill that would restore $4 million in the next biennium to fund a rural loan-repayment program for primary care providers working in underserved areas. The program was cut in 2009. The initiative could help bring as many as 96 providers to rural communities.
