Scientists work on large-scale tissue production

Researchers at universities and private companies envision the day when replacement muscle, cartilage, skin and other tissues and organs will be manufactured on a large scale using 3D printing. Researchers have implanted 3D-printed urethras into injured boys, and the Department of Defense is funding some of the research with the hope of helping wounded soldiers.
