Study: Elemental diet helps adults with eosinophilic esophagitis

Adults with eosinophilic esophagitis saw histologic improvement from adopting an elemental diet for two to four weeks, according to a small study in The American Journal of Gastroenterology. University of Utah researchers said, however, that patients did not achieve improvements in dysphagia, chest pain or heartburn, and they found the diet, which includes a liquid meal of amino acids, fats, sugars, vitamins and minerals, difficult to follow.
