Whole Foods expects lower profits with cost-conscious market shift

Whole Foods' efforts to keep prices lower and offer more discounts to help the chain shed its reputation for high prices will take a bite out of profit margins in the near-term, the company said this week. "We know that one of the keys to broadening our appeal and growing our sales over the longer term is to improve our relative value positioning," said co-Chief Executive Walter Robb.
