Blue Bell entices ice cream lovers the old-fashioned way

In more than 80 years, the family-owned company has never lost money, staying profitable even during the Depression. Blue Bell Creameries has never paid slotting fees to the grocery and convenience stores, which account for 70% of its business. It is the third-largest branded ice-cream maker in the U.S., behind Dreyer's and Unilever's Breyers.
