Alaska looks to build interest in pipeline, gas bids

The Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority plans to host a gathering of oil and gas industry officials in Anchorage in April to discuss the bidding process for Alaska's large supply of conventional natural gas. Concerned that investment interest may be reduced by the recession, TransCanada authorities will also seek commitments for a $30 billion pipeline -- up to 3,500 miles long -- to bring natural gas to the Lower 48 states.
