Sedation-free colonoscopies emerge as an option

A small group of U.S. physicians wants to make sedation-free colonoscopies more widely available for patients. Sedation-free screens currently make up only about 1% of U.S. colonoscopy procedures but are much more common in Europe and Asia. Supporters say sedation-free colonoscopies reduce the risk of adverse events, lower costs and boost convenience for patients.
