Federal chemical-safety policy must not supersede state laws

Any change made to federal chemical-safety laws must not weaken the ability of states to pass their own regulations to protect citizens from potentially harmful chemicals, writes Jenny Levin, an environmental health associate in Maryland. Federal policy should be geared, instead, on boosting data-sharing among states to help level the playing field and encourage interstate commerce.
