Long-term effects of obesity surgery for youths are unknown

Bariatric surgery in children remains experimental but quickly is becoming the next front in the battle against obesity, according to a New York Times report. Research is showing rapid weight loss and improved health for young patients who have the surgery, but experts question the long-term effects on the digestive system as children grow older.
