BIM and the Panama Canal's Third Set of Locks project

The Third Set of Locks project for the Panama Canal is a design/build/deliver process and is using building information modeling technology to visualize and integrate complex designs. BIM is "instrumental for keeping design and documentation coordinated, saving us both time and money," said Michael Newberry, design engineer at MWH Global. The technology will also "become the vital link between asset creation and asset management, driving efficiencies throughout the lifecycle to better use resources for critical infrastructure needs throughout the world," he said.
