Growth in ads, fees provide lift for Scripps Networks

Scripps Networks Interactive, with the help of stronger ad sales and carriage fees in the fourth quarter, tallied an 8.2% increase in revenue for the period. Ad revenue was up 8.8% and carriage fees grew by 9.7%, compared with the same period in 2012. However, profit was down sharply, from $305.8 million to $108.5 million, reflecting a tax benefit for the 2012 period and a write-down connected to Travel Channel International for the 2013 period.
