N.J. teachers develop Olympic-themed, cross-curricular lesson plans

Teachers in a New Jersey school district have developed a cross-curricular lesson plan to integrate the Winter Olympics into elementary lessons in math, reading, writing, social studies and science. The lessons -- also aligned with the Common Core State Standards -- included teaching about the science of potential and kinetic energy of the athletes, using geometry lessons to teach about the flags of participating nations as well as history lessons about the Olympic Games.
