Study: Initiative cuts diabetes risk in obese youth

Data on obese youth with elevated 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test levels showed 42% of those who joined the Yale Bright Bodies program attained a 2-hour glucose rate of less than 120 milligrams per deciliter at the end of the study, compared with 7% of those who received standard care. Patients in the intervention arm also exhibited better systolic blood pressure levels than those in the control arm, researchers reported in Diabetes Care.
