Experts: Health care groups must work to comply with e-discovery rules

Organizations in the health care sector need to review their data-management policies and establish effective protocols to abide by e-discovery requirements under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. These regulations cover not only information found in computerized health records, but also all kinds of electronic data, including instant messages and e-mail. Groups working to comply with the government rules are expected to face challenges caused by the greater volume of data and remote-access capabilities, experts said.
