Growth of PET, PET/CT use slowed in 2008, report says

Growth in the use of PET and PET/CT scans in the U.S. has slowed in recent years despite the 4% increase posted between 2007 and 2008, according to market research firm IMV Medical Information Division. A drop in PET purchases might continue in the next few years, owing to the adoption of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, which rules against self-referral for standalone imaging centers and several other factors, IMV said.
