American Airlines hopes to resume commercial flights to Haiti on Friday, marking its first scheduled service since the island nation was devastated by an earthquake on Jan. 12. American will offer three daily flights from Florida, and service from New York will be offered four times a week, the company said. Regional flights on American Eagle will begin in March, with service from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. American has operated in Haiti since 1971 and has some 100 employees there.
