DOT readies $1.5B in TIGER grants for transport projects

The Transportation Department plans to distribute $1.5 billion to pay for more than 50 projects nationwide, with money directed to the most economically distressed areas. The Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery, or TIGER, grants include $83.2 million to convert New York's main post office into a transportation hub.
