DuPont unit joins biotech maize development alliance in Africa

DuPont said its Pioneer Hi-Bred unit has offered to share its gene technologies in a research partnership in sub-Saharan Africa aimed at developing biotech maize varieties that require less fertilizer and produce high yields. The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center is leading the research project, which is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
