New phones: HTC's Nexus One competitor, Huawei's HSPA+

HTC threw a challenge at Google on Tuesday with the release of its Android-based Desire smartphone that resembles Google's Nexus One and carries many similar features, but it can be undersold to a wider audience. The Desire, one of three handsets HTC announced, sports a 3.7-inch screen that features AMOLED display technology. Also, Huawei introduced its maiden Android-run smartphone, the U8800, sporting a 3.8-inch touch screen and support for HSPA+ technology.
